Dag Nasty - All Ages Show ep 1987

This is EMO not that fucking shit they call emo today. Fuck. Dag Nasty, Washington DC. Made up of ex this and that and pre this and that. Solid band, good music and a very respectable cover of the Ruts "Staring at the Rude Boys".

01 - You're Mine
02 - Staring At The Rude Boys
03 - All Ages Show

Giant Records.

Field Day, which these songs come from is their worst album though Minority of One is fairly bad. They went from Coke and Doritos to Coke and JD when the album came out and lost some of their straight edge following. The singer on this, Peter Cortner is now a school teacher in Philidelphia and does an internet only type new wave band called The Gerunds(they have a myspace page with songs). I have a download of the out of print Field Day which has some of these songs and a write up on my blog.

The Wig Out at Denko's/Can I Say double CD is the best release to get in my opinion.

Sorry for blabbering they're one of my favourite bands.

Ever hear the demo version of "all ages show", it was featured on the Dischord anniversary disc set. It's really good and doesn't sound like a band you would be embarrassed to like.

My favorite band of the mid-80's DC scene to be sure. I didn't really like Colin's vocals nearly as much as Dave's, but "All Ages Show" is one of my favorite songs by this band. It is still capable of giving me goose-bumps after all these years.

Thanks again for the great blog!

In my humble opinion, "field day" is much much better than "wig out" which is the weakest of all three Dag Nasty LPs (tho it had good songs like "safe", "godfather" and "exercises"). the later ones are not really Dag Nasty but a sad reunion schlock.

The demo version of All Ages Show, featured on the Dischord comp, is definitely better than this one. But I'm biased, I practically worship early Dag Nasty. Raw fusion of punk rock and pop, with a hardcore sensibility. If you like this music, try The Nils.
